Hello again my eclectic friends!
I know, I have been a little MIA lately. My real life has been keeping my a bit occupied, but I am back now and cannot wait to share my Homemade Natural Blush recipe with you!
In the journey towards a chemical free beauty routine, I have played around with a mixture of store bought and homemade beauty products. I have struggled to find a chemical free store bought blush that truly strikes my fancy; obviously, my only recourse was to make one. As it turns out, making your own natural loose powder blush is ridiculously simple.
To make your own blush, start with a dried/powdered flower base. I chose an ounce of Hibiscus powder as my base. You can use Hibiscus powder alone as a blush, but it made me look like a beet. To diminish the intensity of the Hibiscus, I added 3 teaspoons if corn starch. I like my blush to be less pink and more like a red-brown color for my complexion. For this reason, I added 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon of powdered ginger, and 2 teaspoons of paprika. You can vary the amounts if these elements to match you complexion. For instance, add more ginger and corn starch if you want a lighter pink or more cocoa powder if you want a darker brownish hue. I would not recommend adding too much paprika just out of fear you might get it in your eyes.
Once you have combined your ingredients, mix them together well in the storage container of your choice; I always choose glass. To apply your blush, dip blush brush into your powder mixture, tap brush to remove excess powder, and apply to cheeks. See, I told you it was ridiculously simple 😉
Live an eclectic life!
